I wrote about the upcoming Gastropod performance piece in the next issue of Arts Perspective, set to hit the streets soon!
This Thursday, June 4, from 6 to 9 p.m., the young group of girls behind Gastropod are holding a fundraiser for their show at Open Shutter Gallery in Durango.
Do local culture a big favor and go (it’s just a $10-$20 donation at the door).

The Durango Herald paid our little gallery a visit last weekend and wrote some very nice things. Read the article here. Then get out your little black book and mark down the next show, which is happening Sunday, May 17, at 118 West Mill St. in Bayfield.
And if you missed last Saturday’s show, here are a few photos of some of the artwork:

I'm entering my Tijuana photo series into the art walk.
The Durango Youth Coalition puts out a call to artists in the Four Corners region:
Show your work in a community-wide art walk in Durango April 23
From 5 to 9 p.m. Thursday, April 23, the Durango Youth Coalition will be hosting a community-wide art walk featuring local artists. Participating venues include Lost Dog, Pure Soul Coffee and the Smiley Building. Attendees will be encouraged to walk or ride their bikes from venue to venue to see the local art.
There is no entry fee to artists. Emerging artists are especially encouraged to sign-up & participate!
Interested artists need to have their hang-ready art by April 19. Artists are asked to first send an email to durangoyouthcoalition@gmail.com or call 814-282-3039 to reserve their space in the art walk.
The Durango Youth Coalition will use this event as a fundraiser by collecting donations from area businesses for a raffle at the end of the evening, and by accepting art donations from local artists to have in a silent auction. Artists are also encouraged to sell their work at the show. When you email or call to express interest in the show, please let us know if you are interested to submit something for the silent auction as well.

"The Return to Simple Living" by Mike Maxwell
We’re a brand-new, contemporary-art gallery located in beautiful Bayfield, Colorado right on Mill Street in the center of town. Our first show opening is in March, and if all goes well, we’ll be holding openings on a regular basis. The first art exhibition will simply be a showing of our own personal collection of paintings and prints from San Diego and Tijuana emerging artists. We hope to show that even young, poor people like us can afford to own original art.
If you’re an artist in the Four Corners area and interested in showing your work with us, send an e-mail to kinsee@theredhousegallery.com.
If you’re an art enthusiast or simply like looking at art or collecting art, click below for show details:
